'Think Like a Man' Banned in France Due To an All Black Cast
For background, France has always had an approach to multiculturalism that, in essence, does more to strip away non european cultural identities and promote assimilation that to encourage diversity and appreciation for different cultures. Viewing an all black cast as “separatist” rather than an attempt to highlight a real and different part human experience does more to alienate people of color. Assimilation into the white, European idea of civilization and culture is not the answer. We must assert the creations and promotion of our own identities and experience that stand next to every other identity on equal grounds.
